By The Sea Food, the Rogue's notes.

Hidden gem. West OC Commercial Harbor, 3/5/2022.
Found our own fish market back in the Fall. Took a long winter's pause to make the move and take advantage. Rave reviews from neighbors provided the add push. Sea Born Seafood...did not disappoint. Picked up a pound of fresh Atlantic Salmon, and a pound of Mahi. Sliced 'em up and set in the freezer when we got 'em home. In terms of weather and surf conditions, a month of fluctuation. March on the Sho'. 60s one week, 30's the next. Fresh seafood- healthy feeding when the outdoors are feelin' restricted. Made for a couple fine, toothsome meals in this transition month. Hell, any month.
Stoked to pair with these beers with fresh, grilled, seasoned fish food...Blau Weiss, Hohenthanner Schlossbrauerei. German import (name gave it away). Wheat Beer. Poured a bright gold with about a half inch, fizzy, white head. Hint of banana, and white grapes in the aroma. Taste had floral hoppiness. Berries. Malty base. 5.6% ABV. 20 IBUs. Rated a C+.
The decent balance and good carbonation helped to pair with the Salmon. Seasoned with lemon pepper, light salt, mango balsamic. On the grill over a sheet of foil. Moist. Nice flake. Smooth, rich lightly oily taste. Great salmon dinner.
Grilled Salmon

Week or so later...the Mahi. More of a steak-fish. Firm, less flake. Grilled directly on the grates. Used a heavier pepper and roasted garlic seasoning. Some Hank's Rub seasoning. A little expresso balsamic. The mild white-fish taste lends itself to the additional flavors. Light sweetness.
Mahi! Gimme sum.
Paired with a hazy IPA. A hold-over from our mid-west trip. Oswego Brewing's Hayz For Horsez. 6.8% ABV. dry hopped at 18 IBUs. A New England style IPA. Cloudy; orange juice color in the pour. Smelled of juicy oranges and pineapples. Resinous pine. Flavors of more pineapple, guava, big punch of citrus, and the tell-tale grapefruity hops. Excellent pairing. Gave it a B+.
