Line In, from the Rogue's notes.

"Most of the world is covered by water. A fisherman's job is simple: pick out the best parts!"  -Charles Waterman
Life on the Assawoman, 5/26/2018.

First time out. The elusive fluke. Hot spot has been the Thorofare. My neighbor, DP, and his Jet Fisher. We talked about love of the water. Being out on the water. Fishin' the local waters.  Wives were up front. probably talkin' clothes and Avon. Shiners, squid, and Gulp; baits of choice. Lines in. Trolling/drifting the thorofare. Watched the increasing school of boats. Moved here and there. Hooks were quiet. Lotta nibblin'. Them damn flounders humbled us this time around. Thinkin' back, I believe most of the nibbles were crabs chowin' down. Wife would argue the point, as wives do.
Ready 'n waitin'.

DP, had caught his first keeper the other evening. 17 incher (16.6" is the 2018 limit). Called and asked if he should keep or throw. back. I said, "hell yeah, keep it!" Put in on ice for my return from a surf. My first fillet job. Didn't do bad thanks to a recent episode of Hooked on OC. Had 'em over for lunch over the weekend...baked flounder tacos. Good $hit! A new summer beer that paired well with the tacos. Another Narragansett brew...Fresh Catch, very befitting. A golden pour Blonde Ale that definitely maintains it's attraction as long as it's served lawn mower style... ice cold. Finger and a half, white head that disappeared fast. Thin lacing. Grainy aromas I associated with everyday lagers but with light grapefruit in the distance. Tasted of bready malt with a light 23 IBU, citrus bite in the finish. Sixer of 16 ounce cans at 4.2% ABV...can do a few. Rated a C+.

Progression, from the Rogue's notes.

"Conditioning has to do with a lot more than age. Getting
out as much as possible is critical."  - Swaylocks
Longing. 65th-66th Street O.City. 5/11/2018

When the Atlantic starts changing temps 'round here, she changes fast. Last week of April we were in the upper 40's. First week of May, hovering at 50F. Now in the low 60s. The ocean has become quite incalescent (look it up). First time out, had the full suit. Terrible. Forgot how much I dislike neoprene. Past week, shed the gloves. Very comfortable. Better. Lookin' at a shortie next time out. Progression. Like staying wet. Getting out much more often than the past year. Shedding the kook. Progression is good.
Finding Yin, Holiday's 5/17/2018.

Couple of summer entertainers won my 'fridge's heart. First up was Lagunitas CitruSinensis. 7.7% ABV. 49 IBUs. A Pale Ale not for the slight of tongue. Huge notes of smashed blood orange (it's in there), mango, and of course grapefruit. Malt front with a bitter piney citrus aftertaste. Poured a bright gold with a finger plus white, fizzy head. Very fresh fruit aromas perfect for bringing in the warmer weather. Rated a B+/A-.
A brewer new to the Shore and making their mark in the area this season is Narragansett Brewing. An outta state import from Rhode Island. Had seen Del's Shandy popping up more frequently as I perused my local beer traders. Like it was calling to me. Actually turned out to be a fair refresher. Nothing cultured. Definitely a good fit for the Sho'. Poured shimmering yellow-gold with scents of grass and lemon. Tasted of lemon sweet-tarts and malty grains. 4.7% ABV, and 14 IBUs kept it light. On a hot summer day...maybe a post surf session...in an iced glass? Jazzed. Rated a B/B-.
