Critical Condition, notes from the Rogue

"We all in critical condition babies, but you can tell me where it hurts, because I got
the healing prescription here..."       -Dr. Johnny Fever
Ankle high break.  34th Street. 4/12/2015

   Water-45F.  How...much...longer...? Been drowning in this funk in more ways than one. Rain. Stomach virus. More rain. Lost 8lbs. No gym. No surf. Critical condition man. Sun finally came out over the weekend. Just started feeling a bit better. Still no surf (at knee high, not necessarily missing much), but even a little water time would do a whole lot of healin'. Back in the gym today. Dig it.
   A couple of elixirs aided somewhat over the recent days. Otter Creek Brewing put out a sweet seasonal offering in Fresh Slice. A White IPA loaded with a clementine juice and orange peel, both in an orangish suspended haze pour. Nice white finger head and clingy lacing. Floral and citrus in the aroma. Tastes of  crisp hop bite (45 IBUs) that mixes well with the coriander and clementine. I'm not usually big on White IPAs as some are too close to a Blue Moon, but this one was refreshing and lawn mowerable at 5.5% ABV. I gave it a B+.
"Whoever drinks beer, he is quick to sleep;
whoever sleeps long, does not sin; whoever
does not sin, enters Heaven! Thus, let us drink
beer!"     -Martin Luther
Burley Oak has been putting out some pretty refreshing beers of their own. They "love their Sours" and Sour Trip was one of their first. 3.3% ABV and 4 IBUs makes it easy to drink more than one. The tartness makes it an instant thirst quencher. Yellow-gold pour, light haze, and a quickly dissipating head. Hints of honey and plenty of tart lemons and grapes. The Berliner Weisse. My new post-gym, post- all day surf brew.  Also rated a B+.
